9 to 5 Poet and I hit the trails over Memorial day weekend.We had a few hours to spare on our trip down to see some friends in Middleton, WI. So, we stopped off at one of my favorite national parks, Devil's Lake.
We hiked up to see the Balanced Rock and Devil's Doorway. On the way back down we tacked the CCC Trail, East Bluff Trail, and finishing off on the easy Grottos Trail.
I would have liked to have had more time to check out some of the longer trails and take more pictures. I've only been to Devil's Lake in the Fall. When I was college several of my science classes took field trips that always seemed too short and too focused.
This time I took a lot of great photos and took my time, looked at all that surrounded us. It was perfect. Not too many people, not to hot, the sun was out, and there was a cool breeze. It was perfect!We had so much fun that we are already looking for some closer options for next weekend.
I have to say that winter finally feels like it is over and spring is soon going to give way to a very nice summer!
